Interior... Complete for now...

As finished as it gets for now!
Ready to set sail! Anyone have a crane? Should probably keep trying to finish up the interior a little more..

Spring 2015, Tattersail's 40th anniversary

With the arrival of spring, comes a final effort to complete the Refit!

This leaves us with one major project... Interior finishings.
Cabin soul progresses... clearly I din't get to the fiberglass stage quick enough on the companionway platform :(

The Cabin

Now that jack frost is here almost every night and yardwork and landscaping the new land has come to the end of phase one, here begins Tattersail's final interior build phase.

It all starts with a plan.

What you see here was done shortly after the engine was installed in June 2013.
Main bulkheads, benches and galley.

Some electrical started also...
No longer hollow :)

And now my first step in this final phase,  the floors!

White Ash.
Featuring full length boards, the grain is continuous throughout the 4 cabin soul panels. The nose piece is TBD, possibly a red/white cedar inlay to match the planed cedar theme in the master cabin.

Closer to Home

Spring 2014 is here! and gone... hmmm Summer 2014 might not be the year.

Tattersail has made the trip on land away from the original refit site to beside our house where the final phase of the refit will take place.

Although the boat can navigate, it is our wish to have a completed vessel with all luxury's finished and working before launch!

*-*-*

Meanwhile, our smaller DS16 has been taken out on the water and got a fresh coat of paint to match Tattersail.

Time for a third?

Companionway

Mostly made of cedar and some ash trim, the companionway has started to take shape!

Would you brave crossing the plank?

As you can see the topside paint is done and windows have been installed as well, getting very close to being entirely waterproof.

Engine fitting

Engine now painted red with new black hoses.

In goes the engine, Tattersail is now powered!

Engine progress!

The engine is now running!

Sounds pretty good too :) maybe some valve rocker adjustments.

Some leaks as far as the cooling hoses go.. back to the Yanmar dealer hah

I have now started the new wiring harness and control panel.

Painting has come along a bit also - soon we should be installing the cabin soul and bulkheads.

Spring is here!!! Or is it....

Spring is here!!! Or is it.... *looks outside*

We are looking forward to resuming the refit process, 100's of items have been purchased over the winter and are on standby pending the warmer weather!

The bulkheads and wooden subframe for the interior have been cutout and are ready for the epoxy and installation.

Engine work is almost complete and it will be ready to drop in once the final paint coat can be applied to the inside of the hull.

Yanmar Diesel Fuel Injectors Rebuilt

Though still snowing here... hopefully the temp climbs fast, very anxious to get moving again! Our completion goal is mid June!

End of season 2012

Despite the beautiful warm and dry summer we experienced this year, the night time temperatures have dipped below 10 C, halting the paint process.

Thankfully all bare steel has been covered and is protected for the winter :)

We await an early spring!

... it's a long time to wait but the energy required to heat the hangar is just an irresponsable waste lol.

Material purchasing will progress through the winter and assist in speedy progress once natural heat returns to our side of the planet!

Now to ponder a winter hobby...

Bristol Beige is the color...

Paul's boat was out of the shop for sandblasting so I was able to take a great picture :)

Paint Day 7

Today marked the day Tattersail received a water line, returning after almost 15 years!

First we removed the stainless rudder, to be primed and painted.

Then, on went gallons # 9 and 10.

Water line unveiled!

Lazer sharp ;)

Here is a look at the original:

Worksite re-arrangement...

Today some sanding got done...
but mostly making it possible to lay to rest Tattersails new friend!

Paul's new project, a Georgia 23, made in Owen Sound, Ontario.

Tattersail moved back so the nose is now inside the building, was also made perfectly level so the water line can be taped up using the lazer level.

Paint Day 6

My daily painting record so far...
1/2 of gallon # 6 to finish up the inside!

Second coat on the top...

Second coat below! Gallons # 7 and 8.
